Why study with CYTS?

Flexible Learning and Assessment Procedures

CYTS offers flexible learning. You can progress at your own pace. Due dates for assessments will be set by the trainer to promote sufficient progress to complete the training, however, these dates can be negotiated depending on your individual needs.

Onsite classes take place one to three days per week. Class times are from 9.00am to 2.30pm. If there are any variations to these times at any particular site, students will be notified. You can borrow or buy your own resource books to continue working on modules at home or onsite. There are staff available each day of the week to give assistance to those wishing to progress at their own pace.

Recognition of Prior Learning

The RPL process will involve assessment of your existing skills and knowledge. Through this recognition process you will be able to demonstrate competency in a nationally accredited units of competency and in some cases a full qualification.

The assessment can take place by submitting evidence you have achieved the skills and knowledge required for you course which may include, existing academic records, proof of training course/workshop attendance, written support by previous employers, documentation and other work you have produced, through demonstrations and questioning.

Previous recognised qualifications that directly match competencies will be 'credit transfers' and will not attract charges. Any other 'Recognition of Prior Learning' of submitted evidence or assessment only processes, will attract the tuition fees. The fee covers the process of assessment of the evidence submitted.

NB: It is your responsibility, and not that of the trainer to provide and/or map relevant evidence in preparation for assessment.

Assessment Only Pathway

Where students believe they have the knowledge and skills required to complete the units or qualification but are unable to supply the evidence required for RPL, they can choose an assessment only pathway. This will require the students to complete the CYTS assessments for the relevant units and to be deemed as competent.
